Fans Juggle Shopping in Thailand to Suit World Cup Matches.

Jun. 11--World Cup soccer has failed to cause an expected slump in retailing at major department stores, with shoppers timing their outings around the televised matches.

The stores say that after the tournament began on May 31, peak shopping hours shifted to the late evening.

Executives of Central, Robinson and The Mall agreed yesterday that turnover had not been reduced, particularly between Monday and Friday.

However, on weekends, the stores had not been as busy as usual in the afternoon, normally the peak shopping period, as match screenings started at 1:30 pm. By the early evening, though, the number of …
